through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles
Salvation - Repentance

through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles
Romans 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
Israel is the key to understand the Bible. I do not mean the present political situation in the middle east. I mean Israel as a nation in the bible. The Bible speaks about God's plan with the nation Israel and God's plan with the Church the body of Christ. If we want to understand the Bible and enjoy it, we should learn to draw a line between those two purposes.
Stap one - Ephesians 3:1-9. Make sure that you heard about the dispensation of God's grace. Make sure that you know much about the gospel of God's grace acts 20:24. If for some reason those terms are new for you, you will find a lot of online information about this way of teaching

salvation has come unto the Gentiles! Does it mean that now all Gentiles go to heaven and not to hell, just because they are Gentiles? No ! when we say SALVATION has COME UNTO THE GENTILES, we are talking about the Lord Jesus Christ. He came first to the lost sheep of the house of Israel (Matt 10:6). The doctrine “through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles” teaches that after Israel, as a nation, rejected the offer of the kingdom, The God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob saved the apostle Paul and gave him the dispensation of grace (Act 9:15-16 Ephesians 3:1-9).
salvation has come unto the Gentiles is about that the Lord Jesus and his finish work on the cross made now available to all nations without differences. “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory”
This explains in a very short way to someone in 2019 what is all about when we use the term “through their fall” . It is a very important doctrine because the majority of Bible-believing people today. Think that the Lord Jesus Christ was always the same and that there is in the Bible only one gospel.
author of eternal salvation
When we talk about salvation, we are first talking about the savior. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Matt 1:21. Jesus = Yeshua which means GODS SAVE
In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Jerm 23;5-6
Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. Hebrews 1:4
for salvation is of the Jews. John 4:22
Neither is there salvation…. Acts 4:12
great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord Hebrews 2:3
author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Hebrews 5:9
Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: 1 Peter 1:10
Now after we understand that The Lord Jesus Christ is the “author of eternal salvation”, we can move on and see what it means: through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles.
salvation unto the ends of the earth.
I believe and therefore teach that the beginning of the dispensation of grace was when God saved the Apostle Paul. (Acts 9)
From reading in Acts 13:37-38 , we understand that: Paul and
1- preached unto you the forgiveness of sins
2 - by him all that believe are justified from all things
Act chapter 13 is not the beginning but as we read the moment: the work whereunto I have called them. (Acts 13:2)
So when Paul and Barnabas came into “Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day” they talk to them about the gospel of Gods grace. They were not like Peter (acts 2:37-38) they did not spoke at the synagogue about the establishment of the earthly kingdom but about the gospel of Gods grace according “the work whereunto I have called them”. (Acts 13:2)
the word of this salvation sent.
Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent. Acts 13:26
children of the stock of Abraham = Jews / Israelites that according to the registration knew the tribe they belong to and they are Abraham's children in the flesh.
whosoever among you feareth God,= Gentiles or Proselyts
when Paul and Barnabas mention the “word of this salvation” it was based on the truth
“But God raised him from the dead” or later Paul said: Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. Romans 4:24
And by him, all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. Acts 13:39
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Romans 3:24
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Romans 5:1
Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 1 Cor. 15:3-4
….believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:8-9
For so hath the Lord commanded us,
Now after we understand more about “salvation is come unto the Gentiles”. We must understand what “… hath the Lord commanded us, (Paul and barnabas ). We know that the Lord did not Command Paul like he commands the 12 apostles. Paul say: Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, 2 Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures, Romans 1:1
Paul receives the dispensation of Grace so why: saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. Acts 13:47
Paul is not Isaiah the Prophet and Paul in act 13:37-37 is not talking to the nation Israel. Paul is talking to Jews and others in the synagogue and later also outside the synagogue,
This is part of what God said to Isaia and
And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.6And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth. Isaiah Chapter 49:6
When Paul use part of God's word to Isaiah it is because the same God now commands him to go to the Gentiles. The subject is the same. The purpose is the same. The difference is that now “…through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy”
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:13-14
And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.49And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.
But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.
for to provoke them to jealousy
You can try to provoke Jews to jealousy only by telling him the right gospel of salvation
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:9-13
Repentance in the dispensation of Grace
Do you believe that there is repentance in the dispensation of grace? Yes I do!.
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Acts 17:30
When we read words that Christ gave to Paul, it is important first to understand the subject. The problem today with many bible-believing people, as I see it, is that they first try to interpret things according to their doctrine or according to what others around them may teach about it.
If we understand that Christ gave Paul the dispensation of grace, We believe that everything that Paul wrote is about the dispensation of grace including REPENT/REPENTANCE
So we read acts 17:30 and instead of learning what Paul is teaching our minds go first to what others around may teach “repent and be baptize or you can not be save without repentance” etc. some brethren today read this verse with one purpose. To push the doctrine of “two bodies/two groups of gentiles during the acts period” some are so focused on looking for arguments, debating, and showing how much their knowledge is better, and superior that they forget just to read the subject around the verse.
What is repentance? I have to ask myself again and again because I know the word better in Hebrew and dutch. RETHINKING, GO BACK etc. (look at the Greek I am not an expert ).
but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent: Acts 17:30
this is part of a speech that Paul had in Athens
Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.17Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.18Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.19And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?
In this speech Paul adjusts his words to those philosophers of the Epicureans:
(For all the Athenians and strangers who were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)
- God that made the world and all things therein…..
- dwelleth not in temples made with hands;…..
- Neither is worshipped with men's hands, …..
- made of one blood all nations of men…..
- That they should seek the Lord…..
- they might feel after him, and find him,….
- in him we live, and move, and have our being;…..
- as we are the offspring of God
- not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold,….
- but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent:…..
- appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness….
- in that, he hath raised him from the dead.
You see this repentance is about changing the way of thinking it is something that even today we need it because the majority is turning their back to anything that has to do with the God of the Bible.
the baptism of repentance
Now after we understand what Acts 17:30 is all about, lets look to other aspects of repentance.
Repentance was always something which has to do with a change of thinking. Nowadays we probably have a different mix of theology.
1- Repent = The person needs first to have some regret about his SIN
2- Repent = The person needs first to do some moral changing in his life
I am not familiar with all the present teaching around us so I can only share my understanding in God’s word:
Luke 3:3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 13:24 When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
Acts 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
Those verses and others refer to the nation Israel and the gospel of the kingdom. So what is this baptism of repentance
The meaning of baptism of repentance is very simple. It is about Jew/the nation Israel that was listening to John the Baptist, the Lord Jesus on earth or Peter and the 12. They asked him to RE THINK about the law of mosses etc. He listens to their gospel and show his rethinking by listening to them and being baptized with water.
In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
2And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matt 3:1
Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
6And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. Matt. 3:6
Those people listen and understood that only mosses and animal sacrifice is not sufficient.
So when we read it and understand what is the purpose of repenting in relation to the kingdom gospel. I must say that I really cannot follow the charismatic’s theology and others who mention kingdom repentance in the dispensation of grace. I learn over the years that it is better to focus on Paul's teaching because there is so much confusion around us.
Next time:
1 Thessalonians 1:9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
2 Timothy 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
to testify the gospel of the grace of God acts 20:24
